    With paintings made by famous artists around the world, such as Van Gogh, Cézanne, Picasso, Giacometti and several others, this small museum / gallery is consecrated to the history of modern art and is home to the Berggruen Collection. It was a museum of ancient art, but was reopened in 1996 and quickly acquired a reputation as one of the favourite art galleries in the city.

  • Berlin Art Galleries: East Side Gallery - Mühlenstr / Oberbaumbrücke, Berlin

    The longest section that prevails of the Berlin Wall has been converted into a wonderful open-air gallery, which is possibly the largest of its kind in the world.
    Individual works or art were created by 118 artists from all over the world in 1990 and it was soon declared as a historic monument.

    The Old Museum was the first building on Museum Island and was structured by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1830. There is also a famous rotunda featuring sculptures of Zeus and his entourage.

  • Berlin Art Galleries: Old National Gallery (Alte Nationalgalerie) - Bodestrasse, Berlin

    Reopened in December of the year 2001, after a thorough restoration, The Old National Gallery showcases work from artists like Caspar David Friedrich, Lovis Corinth and Adolph Menzel, and impressionists such as Monet, Renoir, Degas and Cézanne. There is a huge variety of 19th-century European art to appreciate and also featured are some of the paintings that were before on view at the Gallery of the Romantics at Schloss Charlottenburg. There are also some sculptures by Rodin, amongst others.

    Simply a short walk from the Kulturforum complex is the New National Gallery, which particularizes in paintings and sculpture of the 20th century, up until the 1960s. Principal artists and styles are exhibited here, with highlights being cubism displays by Picasso and Gris Leger, and also surrealism art by Dali Miro and Max Ernst.     This cultural centre associates all of the principal museums that offer mainly European art. It is located in the west side of the city and comprehends a large hall where chamber music is generally played and also a Musical Instrument Museum (Musikinstrumentenmuseum). In the year of 1998, a new art gallery was opened called the Gemäldegalerie and this is now home to a fabulous collection of art from the 13th to 18th century and it part of the Arts and Crafts Museum Kunstgewerbemuseum).     The Gemäldegalerie is part of the large Tiergarten Museum Complex, also called as the Kulturforum, which has currently been built and involves enough museums and cultural forums to fill an entire day. This great picture gallery features over 900 paintings in several collections, many of which were stashed away for safekeeping all over Berlin during the war years, and have only recently been reunited as one collection again. With several early European paintings, German works of the middle ages and Renaissance period, a Netherlandish section, a Dutch and Flemish collection and various Italian paintings by famous artists such as Botticeli, Masaccio, Mantegna, Raphael and Titian, this gallery is well worth a visit.

    The Sammlung Berggruen gallery is immediately contrary the Egyptian Museum and features around 75 paintings, drawings and sculptures by Picasso in an exhibition entitled 'Picasso and His Time'.
